Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 September 2026. Written to say exactly what the service does, in plain language.

Clinsightful Aesthetics is a community for dermatology and aesthetics professionals, and Clincuity is the part of it through which sponsors reach members. Both are operated by Actionable Research Inc., doing business as Clinsightful, a California company (“Clinsightful”, “we”, “us”), which is the controller of the personal information described here. This policy covers both. It explains what information we collect, what we do with it, who can see it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your information to run the community and to understand what our members want to read; we do not sell it; sponsors never receive it; and what you read is never attached to your name for any marketing outside Clinsightful Aesthetics.

1. What we collect

When you register and fill in your profile

  • Identity and contact: name, prefix and suffix, email address, phone number.
  • Professional: NPI (if you have one), specialty, practice type, degree, credentials, year you started practicing.
  • Personal: date of birth and sex, used for research eligibility.
  • Practice location: address, city, state or region, country.
  • Profile: biography and photo, if you add them. A photo is screened automatically for inappropriate content and shown at once if it passes.
  • Access status: whether your NPI matched the federal registry, or an admin’s decision to approve your account, with the reason recorded.
  • Your consents: that you acknowledged the privacy statement and accepted the Terms of Use, and whether you have confirmed your email address.

When you use the community

  • What you write: posts, comments, clinical content submitted through the templates, and private messages, with likes and saved items.
  • Your network: connection requests, connections, members you have blocked, and reports you have made.
  • Abuse-prevention counters: the network address your requests come from, counted against short limits and cleared within a day. Server logs note sign-in attempts for a short period.

What you read

When you are signed in, we record which published articles you open, roughly how long you keep one open (only while the tab is visible, and never counted beyond thirty minutes), whether you follow the link to the original source, and whether you press Share. We record this only for signed-in members and only for published articles. We do not record what you read anywhere else.

Sponsored content

When a sponsored card is shown to you or you click it, we record that it was shown to your account, so that no sponsor can show you the same campaign more often than the limit we set.

2. What we do with it

  • Run the community. Your profile is what other members see; your professional details decide which content and research invitations fit you; your email is how we reach you.
  • Understand what members want to read. We look at reading activity in aggregate: which subjects, categories and article lengths hold members’ attention. This tells us what to write more of. It is analyzed as counts and rankings, not as a record of what a named person read.
  • Match research to members. Specialty, practice type, location, sex and years in practice decide which invitations you see and, on the research panel, which studies you are eligible for.
  • Keep the service safe. Abuse-prevention counters, blocks and reports are used to stop abuse and to act on reports.
  • Send you email. Confirmation of your email address, password resets, and replies to your contact messages. Research invitations appear in the service, not by email, and we send no marketing newsletters at present.

3. What we promise about your reading

  • Reading activity is used inside Clinsightful Aesthetics to decide what we write and publish. It is never attached to your name for marketing outside Clinsightful Aesthetics.
  • It is never sent to anyone else: not to sponsors, not to the research panel, not to advertisers. There are no advertising trackers on the service.
  • Sponsors see how many members a campaign reached and how it performed, in aggregate and in relative terms. They never see who those members were.
  • The team at Clinsightful Aesthetics sees reading activity as titles, subjects and numbers. Our reporting screens do not show which member read what.

4. Who else sees your information

  • Other members see your profile (name, specialty, credentials, location, biography, photo), your posts and comments, and your connections. Your email address is not shown to other members.
  • The research panel. Clinsightful Aesthetics is the research panel: your profile, your research-profile answers, the studies you are invited to, your points and your redemptions are all held here. When you take a survey, it runs on a survey engine (our own Insight Streamer, or Voxco for some studies) that receives only an anonymous token, never your name or email; your answers are held by the engine under that token, and Clinsightful Aesthetics records only whether and when you finished. When you redeem points, we send your name and email address to Tremendous so that it can deliver your gift card.
  • Service providers that host the service and send its email process data on our behalf and under contract: our hosting and database providers, and our email delivery provider. They do not use your data for their own purposes.
  • AI services. We use AI tools to help draft and check the articles we write for the library, and to screen a profile photo you upload for inappropriate content before it is shown. Nothing else about you (your profile details, posts, messages or reading activity) is sent to those tools.
  • Sponsors receive aggregate campaign results only, as described above. They do not receive member lists, names, emails or individual activity, and they are contractually forbidden from trying to identify members.
  • The law. We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect the safety of members or the public.
  • We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers.

5. Cookies and browser storage

  • When you sign in, we set one session cookie that identifies you to the service. It is marked so that scripts on the page cannot read it, and it expires after a set period (currently seven days for members) or when you sign out.
  • Your browser also keeps a small note that you are signed in, so pages can show the right menus without asking the server. It holds your name and profile details, nothing secret.
  • We use no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels. There is nothing to opt out of, so there is no cookie banner.

6. How we protect it

Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. The database accepts requests only from the service’s own servers, never directly from a browser. Every page carries browser protections against injected scripts, and every response is served over an encrypted connection. Sign-in, registration and password reset are rate-limited. Access to the administration screens requires a separate credential. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

7. How long we keep it

  • Your account and profile: for as long as your account exists.
  • Posts, comments and messages: until you delete them (where the feature allows) or your account is deleted. Messages remain visible to the other people in a conversation.
  • Reading activity: kept as raw events so that trends can be analyzed over time; it is never used to build a profile of an individual for marketing.
  • Sign-in and abuse-prevention records: a short period, then cleared automatically.
  • Reports and moderation decisions: kept as a record of what was decided and why.

When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and personal details and remove your posts, comments and messages from view. We may keep records we need to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our terms, and information on the research panel is handled by the panel’s own retention rules.

8. Your choices and rights

  • See and correct most of your information on your profile page.
  • Block any member, and report any post, comment or member, from the menus next to them.
  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account, through the contact form. We will confirm your identity before acting and reply within a month.
  • Research invitations are always optional; ignoring one has no effect on your membership.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have further legal rights (for example to object to certain processing or to complain to a supervisory authority). We will honor them.
  • California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to request its deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Requests go through the contact form; an authorized agent may make a request on your behalf with your written permission.

9. Children

The service is for working and studying dermatology and aesthetics professionals and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, as are the Terms of Use of which it forms part.

11. Changes to this policy

When what we collect, keep or share changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. For a material change we will tell members in the service or by email before it takes effect.

12. Contact

Questions and requests about your information go through the contact form.
